Uptown Records is not doing much better than Release Records design-wise. They've got maybe 50 labels so the catalog is not big by any means.
No help was available on the site, but there's a tiny text at the bottom of the page saying downloads are all high quality MP3s
. According to Uptown Records that's all you need to know.
| Format | Quality | Price |

Uptown Records is the first site to use WMA for previews. I've got Window Media Player 9.0 on my Mac OS X but the previews wouldn't play. No preview equals no purchase. No purchase equals useless shop.
Usability... ah, I don't know where to start. It's grey, it's cluttered, it's got poor visual organization. Every page is like the screenshot on the right: track listings start after a pile of label icons, some navigation elements and a couple of banners. This will be below the fold for many users and they will think the site is broken.
There was no help or about screen, so I haven't got much clue who these people are and where they're coming from. Not that I would be very interested to know either.
