Trackitdown's catalog feels comprehensive. They've got all dance genres covered and every genre has its own start page with a Top 10 list, featured interview, featured mix and featured tracks. This is an excellent tool to discover new music.
Files are encoded in 192 Kbps MP3 format, although it remains unclear if VBR is used or not. Pricing is standard but there is an additional charge for orders under £10 to cover the credit card fees.
| Format | Quality | Price |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 | 192 Kbps | £0.99 + £0.56 for orders under £10.00 |
Previews are available as 30 second MP3 files encoded in sufficient quality.
The design of Trackitdown.net is neat and usable, again too gray for my tastes but laid out well enough. Help, faqs and about links are all lined up neatly at the bottom of each page —with the only problem being the About page is empty. Apart from that the only minor problem I found was you can only browse the catalog from the home page.
Trackitdown is doing things right and I would wonder if they didn't prosper. They certainly seem to have the user at heart.
