Despite the name of the site, Warp Records' Bleep offers music in variety of styles, though the releases from the about 50 included labels are generally rather experimental than poppy.
Files are sold in LAME encoded MP3 format which uses highly variable bitrate encoding. Previews use a tiny built-in Flash player to stream 30 seconds of the selected track.
| Format | Quality | Price |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 | LAME --alt | €1.35 or €9.99 for full album |
The design of the site is visually clean and pleasing, although the small fixed screen size means you have to stare at miniscule fonts (set in grey on a coloured background to add to the eye strain), scroll text in stamp size boxes using non standard gimmicks and all in all keep guessing what's going to happen when you move your mouse cursor around the screen. And to all the nerds out there: no, I don't have a bad sight, I just like to lean back and take it easy rather than stick my nose to the screen to read that cool 5px font.
Despite the design, the site's over simple registration and checkout get special thanks from me and I will be shopping there again as it was really quick and easy to make a purchase from Bleep. Help about technical and other issues was easy to find, even if not easy to read.
