&lt;p&gt;I wrote about virtual desktops yesterday and mentioned that Virtue Desktops manages the second point. Not sure about the first one, though, as I already trashed the app.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I&#039;m afraid the new Dock looks even worse when kept on the side of the screen. Well, at least Safari&#039;s resizeable text areas are, like, the best thing ever (albeit already available as plugins for other browsers).&lt;/p&gt;
